Use one system to manage your business
I have been frustrated for sometime with my bookkeeping and I wanted to share with you a shortcut that I found after a lot of trial and error. People in small enterprises tend to prefer doing more significant tasks such as getting, understanding and keeping customers as opposed to doing their accounting. Accounting is one of those arduous tasks that very few people enjoy doing but must be attended to on a regular basis to avoid problems.
When I first started out my accountant suggested or should I say insisted that I used a small business accounting software package sold by a corporation called Sage Software. I immediately went out and purchased the application without even considering if it would suit my needs. This was probably one of the worst mistakes I made as the application turned out to be really difficult to understand and use. OK my first piece of wisdom is that whenever you see the words accounting software proceed carefully as it probably means the vendor ismaking the assumption you know a substantial amount about accounting.
I had to discover an answer that would work for me so reluctantly I cancelled everything in my schedule and set aside quality time to find an answer. The good news is I found a really excellent solution, it’s an internet system known as salesorder.com.
This is definitively the simplest software I have ever found and what’s more it is net based and therefore I can access it from anywhere I choose to work. Better still and the third piece of advice I want to share with you is that the team who work at salesorder.com are not just very knowledgeable of their application but they know a great deal about the issues of operating a small business and have taught me the bookkeeping I need to know.
